Charles A. Knueppel

Charles Albert Knueppel, 88, of Horicon, walked into his Lord’s arms on September 12, 2026 at Clearview North, Juneau surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service for Charles will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephens Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. A visitation for Charles will be held at church on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. Following the service, burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.

Charlie was born November 11, 1937 to Albert Knueppel and Lillian Sylvester and raised by grandparents Charles and Alma Sylvester in the Town of Hubbard, Dodge County, WI. He attended schools in Juneau and Horicon, having been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and later graduating from Juneau High School in 1956. It was his Grandma Alma who taught him his lifelong skills in the kitchen.

Charlie was a farmer and “country boy” at heart. He also worked at Juneau Milbrew and labored for 32 years at John Deere, Horicon as an assembler, retiring in 1997.

As a young man, Charlie met a lovely, vivacious gal at Crystal Lake Beach dance hall. He and Marlene hit it off right from the start and married on June 6, 1959, living on a family farm in Juneau and later moving to Horicon in 1973. They built their first new home on the Rock River, raising 3 children and both continued working at John Deere.

Charlie was proud of the life he and Marlene built, married 59 years at the time of her death in 2018. Together they enjoyed many traveling adventures with family and friends. He enjoyed watching every sport and played many years in the Rock River “Over 30” softball league. He always had a seat at the latest games his kids or grandkids played in. He still talked about all those hunting/fishing trips with his brothers-in-law, David & Bill. He loved his weekly card games with his men friends.

Charlie will be fondly remembered for his meticulous yard and landscape where he and Marlene retired on Sunset Lane at the edge of the Scenic Horicon Marsh.

Charlie will be missed by his loving family, Brenda (Mike) Young and their children, Brittany (Mark) Ingledew, Stella & Vailyn; Taylor Young; Bryan (Lisa) Knueppel and their children, Shanna (Josh) Parshley, Elli and Maeve; Brady Knueppel; Bradley (Jodi) Knueppel and their children Riley (Bill) Wallace; Blaise Knueppel.

He is further survived by sisters Betty Priewe and Joyce Schurk; sister- and brothers-in-law Ruth Zunker, Tom Schurk and Jim Wiebeliski, brothers-in-law Bob (Nancy) Margelofsky, David (Sandy) Margelofsky; sister-in-law Sandra Margelofsky.

Charlie was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and in-laws; his wife Marlene in 2018; brothers Allen (Joanne) Schaeffer, Donald (Dorothy) Knueppel; sisters Marjorie (Nicholas) Schmitt and Carol Wiebeliski; brothers- and sister-in-law Richard Priewe, Leroy Zunker, William (Joann) Margelofsky and DuWayne Margelofsky.

Charlie was a long-standing member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Horicon. His commitment to his faith was evident as he served as an usher for many years. His Christian values remained central to him throughout his life.

Charlie’s family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of Household A-1 at Clearview for their care and compassion shown to our father.

Memorial donations in Charlie’s name may be made to St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. In lieu of flowers, if desired, plant a shrub or tree in memory of Charlie.
