Darlene Steinbach McCallum passed away August 14, 2026 at her home.
The visitation will be at St Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 9:30-11:00 am with the service following with Rev. Dan Seehafer. After lunch, the burial will be at the North Burnett Cemetery.
Darlene was born August 31, 1936, to Clemens and Edna Steinbach. She grew up on the family farm in Trenton Township and graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1954.
In 1956, she married Roy J. McCallum in the Town of Trenton, Dodge County. Following their marriage, they lived in Beaver Dam, then moved to Horicon where they lived out their lives. They had 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild arriving in December.
Growing up Darlene was involved in 4-H, she raised and showed chickens. In 1955, she traveled to the Delegation of National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, IL. When she was first married, she worked as a stenographer at Monarch Range. When they purchased the farm, she worked side by side in the daily operations. She also did the bookwork for McCallum Feed & Supply and Pets Expo. When working in the pet store, she enjoyed talking with all the customers and stocking shelves.
Darlene enjoyed doing cross-stitch and many people were recipients of her beautiful pillows and wall hangings. Her family looked forward to eating her homemade cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, applesauce and pies. She enjoyed spending time with her family, whether at the Dodge County Fair, holidays, grandkids’ birthday parties or other family events. She was a beautiful seamstress and made many outfits for herself and daughters.
She is survived by her six children: Vicky Arndt, Horicon; Becky (John) Stark, Columbus; Mark McCallum, Beaver Dam; Donald (Colleen) McCallum, Horicon; Marni (David) Lemmenes, Waupun; Julie (Curtis) Patrouille, Waupun. Grandchildren: Stephanie Burg, Seattle WA; Monica (Dustin) Jaloszynski, Mount Horeb, Justin (Michelle) Stark, Columbus; Teagan (Jacob) Zuhlke, Baraboo; Quinn (Caillie Feuerhammer) McCallum, Beaver Dam; Becky Pieper, Horicon; Abigail McCallum, Minocqua, Anna McCallum, Horicon, Cassidy McCallum, Horicon; Brittany (Adam) Buss, Menasha, Amber (David Hering) Lemmenes, West Allis; Meaghan (Joshua) DeJager, Alto; Morghan Lemmenes, Eau Claire; Connor (Shyann) Patrouille, Waupun; Alex Patrouille, West Bend. Also, her great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 2016, sibling Harvey (Phyllis) Steinbach, sister-in-law Doris (Kenneth) Ziebell; Dorothy (Edger) Wetzel; Betty (James) Reilly, and brother-in-law, Archie (Blanche) McCallum; Son-in-law, Richard Arndt.
