David “Dave” Sellhausen, 56, of Slinger, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital in Boscobel, WI.
Dave was born October 1, 1969 in Menomonee Falls, WI; the son of William and Suzanne (Schaich) Sellhausen. Dave is survived by his children: Mitchell (Erin) Sellhausen, Hunter Sellhausen, and Olivia Sellhausen; the mother of his children Jennifer Sellhausen; his twin sisters Cynthia (Michael) Rawlings and Christine Sellhausen; his brother Jeffrey Hadfield and his granddaughter Madelynn Sellhausen. Many loving relatives and dear friends will greatly miss him; Tina Danielson, Todd Wilfer and Jeff Zandi.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, William Sellhausen and Suzanne Hadfield, and his grandparents, William (Bill) and Helen Sellhausen of Little Cedar Lake, and Loretta Schaich of Menomonee Falls.
In childhood, he enjoyed spending time at his father’s cabin: fishing on the Castle Rock Flowage with his dad and twin sisters. The family also enjoyed participating in Civil War encampments and rendezvous events. As a young man, he was full of passion for trap shooting, blasting ‘80s heavy metal & hard-rock music at max volume and playing volleyball at the Reef Point Resort in Hartford. Dave started his masonry career right out of high school and was a member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Local 8. While working for various companies throughout his career, he was working for Kotze Construction at the time of his passing and had worked for them for 20 years starting with them back in 1994.
Dave had a deep appreciation for the outdoors that only grew with age. His most joyful moments were spent hunting in Richland Center or fishing on Pike Lake in Hartford, Winnebago, and Little Cedar Lake. Over the years, Dave shared his appreciation for nature with his family, from taking his children tubing on Little Cedar Lake to teaching all three how to hunt and fish. He was an extraordinary father spending a lot of time with his family: cutting down the annual Christmas tree, attending the kid’s sporting events, trail riding or mud bogging on the ATV, spring morel mushroom picking, and vacationing in Minocqua.
Dave was an extraordinary handyman who had recently restored an AMX muscle car proving he can fix anything.
His admirable work ethic, great sense of humor, and unforgettable laughter was a gift to all who cherished him. Dave passed away leaving behind countless memories, stories, and laughter that will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. No matter what room he was in, he was always the comedian of the group.
Though he will be deeply missed, Dave’s spirit will live on during the big events: each family gathering, hunting trip, or day spent fishing on the lake; however, his spirit also lives on during the mundane: when 80’s rock shuffles onto the radio or when something breaks and needs fixing.
His family and friends, and all whose lives he enriched will forever remember David “Dave” Sellhausen with love, gratitude, and affection.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at the Hartford Gun Club on August 15, 2026 starting at 1:00. Visitation with the family and a light lunch will be served at 1:00. Open shooting from 2:00 – 6:00. Bring your own gun and ammunition or use one of Dave’s.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Ducks Unlimited.
