Donald L. Smith

March 23, 1928 - December 21, 2015

Donald L. Smith, 87, of Beaver Dam passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Continental Manor in Randolph. Donald was born the son of Gerard M. and Agnes (Sobyak) Smith on March 23, 1928. He was a graduate of Hurley High School and proudly served the country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 – 1952. On September 17, 1955, he was married to Margaret E. Janz at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Don retired from Beaver Dam Hospital in the late 1980’s. Don is survived by his sons: Anthony G. Smith, David L. Smith and Paul L. (Amy) Smith all of Beaver Dam and his daughter Donna (Michael) Prall of Reeseville; his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret. As Don wished, there will be no formal funeral services held and his cremated remains will be buried at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Continental Manor in Randolph and the hospice nurses for their loving care of Don in his final weeks. I worked with Don as a carpenter for Dan Fredericks and also at St. Joe's hospital. Don was a skilled craftsman and taught me a lot. He and I celebrated our birthdays on the same day. My condolences to his family.
