I was fortunate to have worked with Don while he was Director at Dodge County's Social Services Department and I worked in Wisconsin's social service agency's regional office. I always found visits with him enjoyable and instructive; his was a professional approach that made his staff professionals as well. This was an observation shared by my peers. He had a great sense of humor, too!!
Dear Jeff and John and family, You have our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dad. Your parents Don and Eunice were familiar faces around our home (Bill and Agnes Schmidt) We too still have the egg ornaments your mom made and enjoy them on our tree every Christmas. May your happy memories be a great comfort to you during this time. God Bless, Dave and Sue Germann (Schmidt)
We are sorry to hear about your Dads passing. I remember many visitsyour folks made to my folks place , Bill and Agnes Schmidt, at Fox Lake. Your parents were great friends of them. We still have the egg ornaments your mom made and gave us for our wedding over 40 yrs ago. God Bless your family.

John, Karen & family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We have enjoyed the Orchestra over the years and are thankful for his contributions to bettering our community. God bless.
Your sorrow is felt by many who knew Don. I grew up on Madison's East Side in the St. Bernard's congregation and knew Don from my days at Edgewood High School. Besides his football and track accomplishments, Don was also a very gifted singer. I remember him practicing at our home with my sister, Rita, accompanying him on the piano as he sang "Because" for a wedding. Such a beautiful voice - I thought what a lucky couple it was who had him as a vocalist at their wedding. May you all heal as you remember the many good times.
I know how hard it is to lose a loved one, I would just like to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you I'm your time of need, i am truly sorry for your loss, but I can say that he is in a better place now and he is watching over you all, once again I am truly sorry for your loss. Love, Andrew
