Doris A. Germer, 74, of W3270 W. Neda Road, Iron Ridge, died on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Life Care Hospital, Pewaukee.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at noon at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Brown’s Corner. The Rev. Leonard Payton will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Brown’s Corner. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the church.
Doris was born on Dec. 7, 1934, in Portage, the daughter of Arthur and Adeline (Beich) Hurst. She was married to Fred A. Germer on Sept. 15, 1956, at First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, by the Rev. Alfred Wittmann.
Doris graduated from Beaver Dam High School on June 5, 1952. She worked at Drennan’s Drug Store, Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Beaver Dam, Mutual Insurance of Iron Ridge and Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Brown’s Corner, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, was a member of Ladies Aid and Guild and also enjoyed the quilters group at St. John’s. Doris also was a volunteer at the Bethesda Store for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Fred; two daughters, Tina Maria (Rob) McCoy, Mayville, and Lori Ann (Jeffrey) Jansen, Granite Falls, N.C.; one brother, Delwyn Hurst, Arkdale, Wis; aunts, Linda Rittmann, Merrimac, and Edith Begh, Pewaukee.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister-in-law, Corabelle Hurst.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hour, Lutheran World Relief and St. John’s Quilters.
