Dorothy Schroeder, age 96, released her spirit on December 16, 2025, and has gone to meet her maker. She was born on September 21, 1929, in Burnett, WI.
Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. A visitation for Dorothy will be held at church on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.
On September 27, 1947, she married Roland Schroeder at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville, WI.
Dorothy lived a long and prosperous life with her husband of 76 years, 8 months. She was heavily involved with the family construction business, tending to all administrative duties, while her children labored.
She was very active in her church, St. Stephens Lutheran, Horicon, WI as member of the Dorcas Society, Ladies Aide and Alter Guild. As a person who loved her birds and flowers, she spent many falls working with the Garden Club in her community. She was also very creative with her crocheting, needle point and knitting with many of her items as gifts for family and friends.
In her later years, she enjoyed watching TV, starting and completing puzzles, going for walks and many chores in between.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons: David (Christine) Schroeder, Robert (Terese) Schroeder, and daughter, Barbara (Michael) Knutson; grandchildren: Alyssa, (Evan Ragland) fiancé, Austin (Amalia) Schroeder, Adrian (Lauren) Schroeder, Dustin Schroeder, Eliott (Stacey) Schroeder. Ashley Maurer (Aaron Sweere) fiancé, Kelsey Maurer (Joseph Clemons II), Chelsea Indra; great-grand-children: Liam, Asher & Roland Schroeder, Palmer Schroeder, Arianna, Dreyson, Aubrey, Ella Schroeder, Joseph III and Jordan Clemons and Isabella and Alina Indra; further survived by sister Betty (Russell) Kempf and sister-in-law Joanne Hammann.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents Carl & Viola (Rothenberger) Hammann, brothers: Art Hammann, Ken Hammann, sisters Bernice Metke, Helen Sauer and Eileen Sellnow. Brother-in-laws: Lloyd Metke, Delmar Sauer, and Kenneth Sellnow, in-laws Hedwig & Erich (stepfather) Pluedeman, her brother-in-law Russell Pluedeman, and sister-in-law Lorraine Pluedeman.
