Services: Funeral Services for Mr. Schoppe will be on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Grove.
Visitation: Visitation will also be held on Monday, April 11th from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the church.
Edward F. Schoppe, 95 years, a resident of Hillside Manor and formerly of the Juneau area passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Hillside Manor.
Funeral Services for Mr. Schoppe will be on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Roger A. Grosnick officiating.
Visitation will also be held on Monday, April 11th from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove.
Edward Frederick was born the son of Herman and Della (Fries) Schoppe on November 22, 1915 in Montello. He was baptized on January 1, 1916 in Montello, WI and confirmed on May 5, 1929 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Grove by Rev. Theo. Kliefoth. He was united in marriage to Edna Tesch on March 9, 1941 in Oak Grove by Rev. Martin Drews.
Ed farmed together with Edna in the Town of Oak Grove for many years. In 1981, they sold their farm and moved to Beaver Dam. He was always a faithful member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Grove, where he served as an Elder and was on the finance committee. Ed loved to spend time with friends and relatives playing cards. He especially liked playing cards with his grandchildren when he could cheat and win. For those who knew him best, he will be remembered for his amusing, playful personality and his fondness for sweets. He was a loving, kind and gentle man to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lou (James) Pearson of Juneau and his son, Gerald (Janice) Schoppe of Juneau; grandchildren: Brenda (Bob) Propst of Beaver Dam, Gary (Sue) Pearson of Columbus, Craig Schoppe of Fond du Lac and Kim (Tom) Trent of Fond du Lac; great grandchildren: Steven and Mitchell Propst, Alissa and Blake Pearson and Kaitlin, Ryan, Allison and Megan Trent; and his brother, Elmer (Leona) Schoppe of Arizona/Wisconsin. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Edna in 2007, sister, Esther Koch and many relatives and friends.
