Edward (Ed) Fischer passed away on October 14, 2026, after bravely fighting cancer on his own terms this past year. His final days were spent with family and close friends who he truly loved and enjoyed.
Ed was born on March 20th, 1952, to parents Franklyn and Helen (Serwe) Fischer. Ed was the fifth child born to the family of ten children. Ed attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Mayville High School where he played football and was involved in drama and the school plays. Ed continued his education and graduated from University of Arizona with an Education degree. He was active with the Pima Community College’s acting group as he enjoyed theater. Ed later moved to Dixon, New Mexico and worked along with Kay and Bob in their restaurant business. He then worked as a bulk mail delivery driver until he retired. Ed unselfishly moved home to help Franklyn care for Helen after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and took wonderful care of her for ten years until her passing. Ed also visited and assisted other elderly relatives in Mayville as he enjoyed the visits with them as much as they enjoyed his company. Ed loved the outdoors as he enjoyed taking walks, gardening, skiing, and feeding the wild birds at Fischer’s land where he spent most of his time. He loved to read books his entire life and would spend hours at home and the library immersed in all types of books. Ed loved the many family stories told at every family gathering and the laughs we all cherish. He enjoyed bringing Franklyn to Stephanie and Dylan’s sporting events and band concerts, afterwards enjoying a good meal and time with family. Ed loved to play guitar, and he had a beautiful voice. He would play with his brothers Bob, Steve, and Tom at holiday gatherings and at Fischer’s land. Ed was a wonderful brother and friend to all. Ed always had a smile on his face when you would see him as he was always happy to see his family and close friends.
Ed will be deeply missed by surviving family members JoAnn Fischer (Silver City, New Mexico), Lynne Fischer (Santa Fe, New Mexico), Kay Coddens (Waupun, Wisconsin), Mary Ann Woerhle, Justin, Raina (Weeki Wachee, Florida), Robert (Bob) Fischer (Embudo, New Mexico), Tom and Sharon Fischer (Mayville, Wisconsin), Steve and Diane Fischer, Stephanie, Dylan (Waupun, Wisconsin), John Fischer and Renee Bonack (Mayville, Wisconsin). Ed will also be deeply missed by niece and nephew Stephanie Fischer and Zach Pfankuch (Evergreen, Colorado), and Dylan Fischer (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) who always enjoyed his company at holiday family gatherings.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Franklyn and Helen. He was also preceded in death by brother Richard Fischer and his wife Kathleen.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a future date.
