Elaine E. Birr, 99, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Horicon passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Elaine was born on February 16, 1926 in the township of Hubbard to Arnold and Mabel (Pahl) Pagel. She was married to Arnold E. Birr on August 5, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. Elaine worked in the food service department at Horicon High School for many years until her retirement in 1990. She was proud to have graduated from the Food Service Program at Moraine Park Technical College.
Elaine was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. Elaine enjoyed watching the Brewers and her grandchildren’s hockey, soccer and football games as well as their dance recitals. Elaine’s hobbies included adult coloring, word finding games, card playing especially King’s Corner, and other games with her family.
Elaine is survived by her daughters: Lois (Dennis) Kuechler of Lomira and Robin Koerner of DeForest; grandchildren: Eric (Erin) Kuechler of Kewaskum, Dr. Amy Kuechler of Grafton, Andrew (Patti) Kuechler of Oshkosh, Jacob (Avery) Koerner of Portland, OR, and Mitchell (Jocelyn) Koerner of Poynette; six great grandchildren: Austin, Aiden, Allison, Uriah, Ari, and Renny; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arnold in 1969; infant daughter Carol Ann; brother Duane Pagel; sisters: Lois Pagel, Donna Neitzel, and Noreda Hanni; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Melvin Neitzel, Roland Hanni, Darlene Pagel, Arthur Birr, and Marvey Birr.
A visitation will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
