Elaine H. Dykstra

Elaine H. Dykstra, 91, lifelong resident of Columbus, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Larson House.The visitation will be at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus on Wednesday, July 18 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at the church on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Wilke officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.The former Elaine Helen Hurckman was born on November 28, 1926 to Fred and Helen (Wodill) Hurckman. On November 6, 1947, she was united in marriage with Edward Dykstra at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus, where she was a lifelong member. Elaine farmed with her husband and worked as a food service supervisor at the Columbus Community Hospital for many years. Education was very important to Elaine and in 1979, she received a degree in nutrition and food service from MATC. Elaine loved her garden and flowers and she truly enjoyed cooking for anyone.Elaine is survived by her children: Larry Dykstra of Neshkoro and Kevin Dykstra of Glendale; grandchildren: Todd (Carrie) Dykstra and Chad (Colleen) Dykstra, all of Fall River, Grace Dykstra of Glendale, and Margaret Dykstra of Ripon; great grandchildren: Nathan Dykstra and Dylan and Jayden Dykstra; sisters: Selma (Bernard) Dykstra of Fall River and Janice Carson of Tuttle, OK; a special niece, Faye Hackbart, other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; son, Gerald; grandson, Scott Dykstra; and siblings, Eugene Hurckman, Robert Hurckman, Geraldine Jaehnke, Helen Kuhn, and Dorothy Gehrke.Memorials may be directed to Zion Ev.
