The former Eleanor Kurkowski was born on April 13, 1910 in Montello, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Martin and Katherine (Kraftchak) Kurkowski. She was united in marriage with Edward R. Klapper on July 27, 1929 in Rockford, Illinois.
Eleanor, along with her husband Edward, owned and operated Club 33 in Beaver Dam from 1945 to 1959. They then owned and operated a tavern in Neshkoro for many years. Eleanor was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish-St. Patrick”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam and a past member of St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro. She bowled until the age of 90 and she also enjoyed playing cards and traveling to casinos.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Imme of Beaver Dam and Joyce Hagen of Fountain Hills, Arizona; her son, Robert (Sandra) Klapper of Montello; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; her son, Duane Klapper; granddaughter, Lisa Klapper; daughter-in-law, Barbara Klapper; son-in-law, Warren Imme; two sisters and seven brothers.
