Elgert W. Pollasch, age 90, formerly of Juneau, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Randolph.
Visitation for Elgert will be at St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at church on Thursday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Paul Schupmann will officiate. Burial will be in the Juneau City Cemetery.
Elgert Walter Pollasch was born on August 4, 1917 in Oakfield, Wisconsin to the late William and Amanda (Backus) Pollasch. On March 29, 1941, he was united in marriage with Elenora Maas at St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church Parsonage. She preceded him in death on March 11, 1997. Elgert farmed in his younger years before moving to Juneau in 1948. While living in Juneau, he worked as a petroleum salesman for Canniff Oil and Johnson Oil in Beaver Dam and managed their bulk plant in Reeseville; he retired in 1985. Elgert was an active member of St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau where he served on the church council and as financial secretary and treasurer.
Survivors include two children, Ronald E. (Darlene) Pollasch, Sr. of Mayville, Carol (Jerry) Yerges of Fox Lake, five grandchildren, Rhonda (Patrick) Apfelbeck of Mayville, Ronald (Michele) Pollasch, Jr. of Mayville, Jay (Sarah) Yerges of Cambria, Todd (Rachael) Yerges of West Bend and Brian Yerges (fiancAC.e, Sena Bey) of Mauston, four step grandchildren, Scott Halverson of Fond du Lac, Steve (Jill) Halverson of Menasha, Bryant (Lisa) Halverson of Brownsville and Kim (Wendy) Halverson of Waupun, nine great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mr. Pollasch was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister and five brothers, including one in infancy.
