Ernest L. DeZarn

Ernest L. DeZarn, age 74, of Fox Lake, died on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Beaver Dam Health Care Center.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, August 31 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Beaver Dam. Visitation at 11:00 and service at 12:00 noon, with luncheon following.

Ernie was born on April 5, 1949 in Williamsport, Indiana to Clarence and Betty Lou (Tinder) DeZarn. After college he lived most of his life in California.  On November 25, 1989, he was united in marriage with Joyce Johnson in Monterey, California. Ernie owned and operated DeZarn Designs, Inc., in which he represented companies that played a pivotal role in motor design and innovation in the manufacturing industry. After about 40 years in manufacturing and sales, he retired.

He enjoyed living in rural Fox Lake after retirement and spent countless hours in his yard and garden. Music was always a big part of his life and he loved attending concerts and listening to all genres, especially Jimmy Buffett. Ernie liked to play cards and board games with the family, especially cribbage. He enjoyed football, basketball and baseball, both on TV and attending games.  Ernie loved the ocean and spent a lot of time on the Northern California Coast Abalone diving and enjoying the sea.  He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and was a long-time Elks member.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Anthony (Heather) DeZarn of CO, Jason (Holly) DeZarn of Beaver Dam, and Casey (Marc) Huffstutler of CA; grandchildren, Jacob, Alexis, Amelia and Annaliese, Hayden, Zander, Caleb, Lorenzo and Reggie, Zachary and Ethan; brother, Robert (Brenda) DeZarn of Williamsport, IN; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
