Evelyn Rose Kirchberg, age 90, formerly of Fox Lake and Fall River, died on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Columbus Community Hospital.
The visitation for Evelyn will be at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Monday, February 2, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM where a prayer service will be held at 7:45 PM. There will also be a visitation at Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Fr. Michael L. Wild officiating. Burial will be at Annunciation Catholic Cemetery, Lost Lake, Wisconsin.
The former Evelyn Rose Neuman was born on September 12, 1918 in the Town of Calamus, Dodge County, Wisconsin to the late George and Clara (Hepp) Neuman. On June 14, 1941, she was united in marriage with Carl H. Kirchberg at St. Mary”s Catholic Church in Lost Lake. After graduation from Columbia County Normal School, she taught at Pleasant View School, a one-room school house in the Town of Calamus. Evelyn was a 4-H Leader and she loved to bake, especially breads and cookies. She enjoyed playing Sheepshead and Euchre, but mostly kept busy with her family. Evelyn lived in Fox Lake where she loved to go boating and enjoyed working in her garden. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake where she had been active with the Christian Mothers and the Daughters of Isabella.
Evelyn is survived by her 11 children, William (Mary Ellen) Kirchberg, Columbus, Darlene (Gordon) Oelke, Van Dyne, Gerald (Laurie) Kirchberg, Columbus, Virgil Kirchberg, Columbus, Leroy (Chris) Kirchberg, Fall River, Barbara (George) Leutermann, Shorewood, Marlene (Dale) McCaffery, Fall River, Sharon (James) Schumann, Fall River, Donna (Marc) Hatzinger, Fall River, Carol (Greg) Kast, Randolph, Mary Beth (Michael) Stange, Burnett, 34 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, her sister, Helen Boomsma, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Neuman, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth Kirchberg-Wallentin and Sylvester Wallentin, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl in 2001, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Kirchberg, three grandchildren, Scott Kirchberg, John McCaffery, and Rebecca Kast, and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Tobias Sauer, two brothers, Leroy and Ralph Neuman, three sisters-in-law, Alice Neuman, Laura Link, and Ella Wallentin, three brothers-in-law, John Boomsma, Herbert Kirchberg and Harvey Link.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Evelyn”s name to the Diabetes Association or Annunciation Catholic Parish.
