Francis R. Heimerl, 78, of N8640 Linden Beach Road, Fond du Lac, died on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m., at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Jon Cox officiated. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Theresa. Graveside military rites were conducted by Mayville American Legion Post 69. Friends called on Monday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Francis was born on Sept. 4, 1930, in Beaver Dam, the son of Victor and June (Arndt) Heimerl. He was married to Caroline B. Koepsell on Nov. 14, 1954, in Mayville.
Francis was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He retired from JCPenney Co. He was a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea and was a member of Mayville American Legion Post 69.
Survivors include two children, Karen (Bill) Williams, Ankeny, Iowa, and Richard (Phyllis) Heimerl, St. Peters, Mo.; sisters and brothers, Audrey Braun, Beaver Dam, Mary Jane (Andrew) Glassman, Beaver Dam, Victor (Janet) Heimerl, Beaver Dam, Janis Mack, California, Carol Scoor, Waukesha, Judy (Ted) Hart, Richfield, Robert Heimerl, Beaver Dam, Gloria (Wayne) Slade, Columbus, Joyce (Joe) Janis, Randolph, and Bill (Carolyn) Heimerl, Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Richard and Kimbra Heimerl, Michelle (Shawn) Bash, Kelly (Joe) Bright, and Billy Williams; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Carson Bright; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1995, and one sister, Norma Torti.
