Hi Lori,
I am very sorry for your loss. Your Dad meant alot to me as we worked very closely together at Mayville Metal. Our frienship did not stop at work. We enjoyed many activities cutting wood, bowling, softball and our daily sheep head games at lunch. He was a true mentor on how to treat people. He was honest and friendly to everyone. If he needed to be stern he did in a very respectful and sincern manner. He taught me many mangement tools that I used througout may working career.
The funny story that stays with me is the joke he pulled on Rollie Finke whild scouting for deer. He called Rollie over to show him some fresh deer sign and unbenounced to Rollie Fred had planted some chocolate covered raisins in the snow on the ground prior to calling out Rollie. In his usual excited fashion pickup the "sign" and remarked how fresh it was to Rollie and popped a few "deer" berries in his mouth. As he chewed them he taunted Rollie to try them..............The rest was a huge laugh and memory.
Rest in peace my Friend you were the best!
Jerry
Just wanted to say sorry for your loss remember it's only temporary. Hugs and prayers to friends and family.
Tina & Bob, Lori& Jeff,
It was with great sadness but also with some fond remembrances that I read of Fred's passing.
It is rare to meet such a selfless and caring person; you were blessed to have Fred as a father/Father in law.
Sincerely,
Brad & Loretta Carter
My sympathy to Fred's family. I got to know Fred in in late 1980s when we worked together in the local zone of the Lutheran Laymen's League. He was a tireless worker for the cause of the Gospel. I recall his way of making you feel that he was happy to see you, interested in talking with you, and sincerely concerned for your wellbeing. His is a life well-lived. We commend him into the hands of our Savior. A special note of appreciation, too, to you -- Lori and Jeff -- for the fellowship we enjoyed when you lived here in our area.
Rev. Richard Schwandt (Hickory, NC)
Sincere sympathy to the Germer family. We worked with Fred at Mayville Metal and especially remember his serious manner that always turned into a smile and a bit of advice or one of his experiences he loved to share. The same at bowling - Great man. Fred, RIP and say hi to Goober for me.
