Gale “Susie” Susan Schaeffer, age 84, of Mayville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Country Villa Assisted Living in Little Chute.
In honoring Gale’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
Gale was born the daughter of Percy and Norma (nee Bonack) Brown on May 28, 1940, in Mayville. She graduated from Mayville High School and went on to attend cosmetology school in Milwaukee.
Gale was united in marriage to Donald Schaeffer on September 12, 1959, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. The couple were blessed with 65 years of marriage.
Gale was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who always loved to take care of everyone.
Gale is survived by her husband Donald; her children: Jeff (Tammy) Schaeffer, Kathryn (Ned) Hocking, and Linda (Matt) Yarvis; her three grandchildren: Haley, Becky, and Kyle; and her brother Russell Brown. Gale is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Gale was preceded in death by her parents.

I want our family members and her friends to know my beloved wife Gale, passed away peacefully with family by her side. I'll never forget the change that took place after her final breath. Her facial expression of anxiety and pain changed in seconds to one of eternal peace.
I'll be forever grateful to our Lord for His timing in her passing. Her life has been a privilege for me to share; words alone cannot express the anguish of our "Susie," slowly being taken away over the past several years. She will forever be in our hearts and memories.
