Gene Arnold was born on December 7, 1930. He grew up on a family farm outside of Reeseville, which instilled the importance of being a hard worker and appreciation to the outdoors. He was united in marriage with Mary Lou Budewitz on June 5, 1954 at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell. They made their home next door to his family farm, where he was able to enjoy the work that was being done over each generation. Gene worked as a machinist by day, but his spare time was spent woodworking. He built beautiful furniture, buildings and was his families favorite handyman. He would wind down his nights enjoying episodes of MASH and watching Wheel-of-Fortune. Gene was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served many different roles over the years.
Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Reeseville; daughter, Lois Damrow of Reeseville; son, James Kohn of Juneau; grandchildren, Jackie (Jeff Born) Kohn-Born of Beaver Dam, Jonathan Kohn of Juneau, and Makayla Kohn of Waukesha; five great grandchildren; siblings, Donna Winker, David (Helene) Kohn, Tom (Lorraine) Kohn, John Kohn, Robert (Jean) Kohn, and Steven (Pat) Kohn; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Verne Damrow; an infant sister, LaVon; and brothers, Glenn and Ronald Kohn.
Memorials may be made in Gene A. Kohn’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
