Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Haas, age 82, of Horicon, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon with Rev. Fr. Mark Brandl presiding. A visitation for Jerry will be held at church on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Jerry was born on August 24, 1943, to Henry and Margaret (Patzlesberger) Haas in Madison. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1962. Jerry was united in marriage to Susan Schendel on July 3, 1965, at St. Malachy’s in Horicon.
Jerry proudly served his country as a medic in the Army National Guard. He later went on to work for John Deere in Horicon for over 30 years. Jerry was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon as well as the Horicon American Legion Post # 157.
Jerry was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, who would do anything for his family, neighbors, and friends. Jerry was a dog lover, with Bailey and more recently Abby being his favorites. Being outdoors brought Jerry much contentment and joy; he loved to watch the birds, deer, and turkey in their backyard. His love of natured extended to his travels, including international trips as well as visiting many national parks in the United States.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Susan; children: Terri (Paul) Huss of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mark (Michelle) Haas of Bettendorf, Iowa, and bonus daughter Amy (Danny) O’Neil of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Chelsea (Kotaro) Hattori, Peyton (Joe) Haas- Bagley, Seth (Maddie) Libal, Claire Haas, Katie Haas, Tyson O’Neil, and Lennox O’Neil; two great-grandchildren: Ryotaro and Emika Hattori; brothers: Bob(Bev) Haas, and Jim (Nancy) Haas; and sister-in-law Marion Haas. Jerry is further survived and deeply missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Wally; and his sister-in-law Carol Haas.
