Geraldine Dorothy Lehman

Geraldine D. Lehman, age 81, of Horicon, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam, surrounded by her family and friends.

Friends and family may gather for a visitation on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Funeral Services for Geraldine will be held on Saturday at the church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Hasty officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon with a brief memorial service from the members of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #8057.

The former Geraldine Dorothy Young was born on December 6, 1925 in Beaver Dam, to the late Emil and Dorothy (Schliewert) Young. She attended the Beaver Dam School District through High School. On September 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lloyd V. Lehman at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. Geraldine enjoyed bowling and playing cards as well as playing pranks on her friends and family. She loved family get-togethers and looked forward to her birthday when her son, Paul and daughter, LeeAnn would take her to Ho Chunk Casino. The Truckers Jamboree in Waupun was also something that she was anxious for every year. Geraldine was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #8057 and was chairman of the Buddy Poppy sale for several years. She was very passionate about her gardening and is showed by the beauty of her plants and flowers surrounding her home.

Survivors of Geraldine include her four children, Cathie Matelski, of Oxford, LeeAnn (John) Heiden, of Beaver Dam, Paul (Nadine) Lehman and Vonne (Martha) Lehman, both of Horicon, her seven grandchildren, Francesca (Carlos) Garcia, PFC Nathaniel Heiden, Devin Lehman and Christina Lehman, Troy Matelski, Bobby Miley and Christopher Miley, her four great granchildren, Calvin Kamrath, Gage Garcia, Hailee Lehman and Chloe Matelski, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd on June 1, 1983 and her brother Warren Young.

For the times I got to meet her, and know her, she was an excellent person to be with. Even as her own battles with her health worsened she shown excellent courage and what it meant to fight all the way to the end, something we can all learn from as her legacy will live through us forever. My prayers are with John and LeeAnn at this time and also to Paul, Vonnie and all others in this very difficult time. May God be with them in this ddicult time
