Helen Hattie Gleissner, 86, of 12 S. School St., Mayville, died on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m., at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Mayville. Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church.
Helen was born on March 30, 1922, in Mayville, the daughter of Ervin Sr. and Edna (Benzel) Walther. She was married to Joseph ‘Sep’ Gleissner on Aug. 24, 1946.
Helen was employed at the former Rilling and Endlich Furniture Co. of Mayville, and Red Rooster Cheese Co. of Mayville. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, a member of Mayville American Legion Auxiliary Post 69, where she served as chaplain and poppy chairperson.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith (Ronald) Pfalzgraf, Mayville, and JoAnn (Jay) Ryan, Kittitas, Wash.; special family friend, Tom Kempf; brothers and sisters, Robert (Norma) Walther, Mayville, Lorraine ‘Bubbles’ (Donald) Heintz, Beaver Dam, Ervin Walther, Princeton, and Margaret ‘Dolly’ Rupnow, Juneau; two grandchildren, Joey and Maria Ryan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1976; one granddaughter, JoEllen Ryan; sister-in-law, Ardis Walther, and brother-in-law, Waldemar Rupnow.
Koepsell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 301 N. Walnut St., Mayville, is serving the family.
