James D. Miley, 83, of Mayville passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and a private family inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon with the Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. James was born the son of Calvin and Martha (Ness) Miley on December 21, 1936 in Freeport, Illinois. James was a veteran of the US Army from 1955 to 1957, where he served in Korea. He was also a member of Horicon American Legion Post #157 and the Horicon V.F.W. Post #8057. He was united in marriage with Shirley R. Anthony on September 8, 1964 in San Bernardino, California. James worked as a security guard for the Watertown Merchants Police for 20 years. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon.James is survived by his children; Debbie (Tim) Gutjahr of Mayville, Patty Miley of Mayville, Martha (Vonnie) Lehman of Horicon, James (Laura) Miley II of Brownsville and Barb (Ray) Schuett-Kleemeier of Watertown, his sister; Carol Dorsett of Iowa, grandchildren; Timothy, Jordan, Tyler, Bobbie, Christopher, Ashley and James III, great-grandchildren; Charlotte, Amyilla, Zayne, Zander and Zarick. James is further survived by other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley in 2006, his son Robert, and brothers and sisters.
