On November 9, 2023, at the age of 94, Jesus graciously carried Jean E. Birkholz from Heritage Homes to her new home in Heaven.
The visitation will be at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Philip Heyer officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Jean was born July 20, 1929, in the Town of Trenton, the daughter of Alfred and Glorein (Oestreich) Wendlandt. She was married to Merlin Birkholz on September 30, 1950.
Jean was a 1946 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. For many years she was employed as a secretary at Wayland Academy. As a former member of St. Stephen’s, Jean was active in Ladies Aid and the counting crew. After moving to Heritage Homes in Watertown, Jean became a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Jean is survived by one daughter, Cindy Birkholz, Watertown; a sister, Carlyn (Richard) Fischer, Cambria; sisters-in-law, Janice Falkinham, Beaver Dam, and Marion Kuehn, Chilton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brother, Ronald Wendlandt and wife, Beverly: sister, Beverly Neumann and husband Leonard Neumann.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watertown.
