Jean M. Vander Werff, age 81, of Beaver Dam, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
A memorial gathering will be held at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Monday, December 17, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at church on Monday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Bob Castro will officiate.
The former Jean Marilyn Sugden was born on June 26, 1926 in Randolph, Wisconsin to the late Clinton and Myrtle (Bork) Sugden. She attended school in Randolph. On March 20, 1944, she was united in marriage with Paul Vander Werff in Sun Prairie. She drove school bus in the Beaver Dam Unified School District for 32 years and served as a crossing guard for numerous years. She also served as a volunteer for the Salvation Army for 6 years. Jean was a member of St. John”s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. She enjoyed camping, crafts, Beaver Dam Tornado Girls Softball, and spending time with her children and grandchildren
Survivors include her husband, Paul Vander Werff of Beaver Dam, three children, Pauline (Brent) Bergemann of Solon Springs, Linda Vander Werff (Robert Smith) of Waupun and Darla (Robin) Seering of Beaver Dam, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two brothers, Ralph (Mary) Sugden of Sun Prairie, Bill Sugden of Rice Lake, her sister, Beverly (Herbert) Ritzman of Pewaukee, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Paul Vander Werff, a brother, Bob Sugden, and three sisters, Marion Vredveld, Ethel Crawford and Ruth Zubke.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Jean M. Vander Werff”s name to St. John”s Lutheran Church, 1209 W. Circle Drive, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin 53916 or American Heart Association, 2850 Dairy Drive, Madison, Wisconsin 53718.
