JoAnn Dinkel

JoAnn A. Dinkel, age 88, died Friday, February 23, 2024 at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek.

Visitation for JoAnn will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday at church beginning at 11:30 am. Fr. Carlos Zapata will officiate. Inurnment will be on a later date at St. Peter Cemetery.

JoAnn Annette Carr was born on December 28, 1935 in Marshall, Minnesota to Thomas and Theresa (Sovell) Carr. After graduating from Marshall High School in 1953, JoAnn moved to Beaver Dam and lived with her sister. On April 16, 1955, she was united in marriage with Dale Dinkel at St. Peter Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. JoAnn worked at Monarch Range until she started to raise her family. In 1975, she returned to the workforce and worked at Beltone in Beaver Dam. While working, she attended school and earned a degree in audiology. She continued to work at Beltone as an audiologist until she retired in the late 1990’s.

JoAnn was a proud mother and loved being grandma. She was always interested in what her grandchildren were doing. Beyond her love spending time with her family, she loved her kitchen and was always making something. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune with her husband, traveling, watching any sporting event, doing puzzles, gambling and she was a secret card shark at Gin Rummy. JoAnn was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish where she was active with the Catholic Women, helped serve funeral luncheons, and served as treasurer of the St. Katharine Drexel Conference of St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Survivors include two sons, Robert (Debra) Dinkel, Chetek, and Stephen (Cathi) Dinkel, Jefferson; one daughter, Mary Beth Jeske, Waukesha; one daughter-in-law, Lori Dinkel, Madison; six grandchildren, Vince and Jake (fiancée Caitlin) Dinkel, Anna, Jenna and Kaitlin Dinkel, and Kennedy Jeske; her sister, Elaine Caine of Charlotte, NC; three nieces, Deborah Harder, Mary Lalley and Susan St. Pierre; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; one daughter, Sheree Ann Dinkel; three sons, Michael D. Dinkel, James J. Dinkel, and Thomas L. Dinkel; two brothers and three sisters; and her daughter-in-law, Kris Dinkel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in JoAnn Dinkel’s name to St. Katharine Drexel Conference of St. Vincent DePaul Society or Rainbow Hospice.
