I was born and raised in Columbus, seven years years younger that John. John was the first athlete I, along with my two brothers Gene and Dale, idolized. As we lived next door to the old high school on Dickerson Blvd, we would run over there to watch John and his teammates practice football. During basketball season we would always try to be the 1st in the gym to watch John play basketball games. Also watched him pitch and play third base in many Home Talent League games. His obituary brought back many fond memories of my youth in Columbus. May he rest in peace.

I watched John almost everyday taking care of his yard and didn't realize he was ill. I certainly remember him as the lover of all sports. He gave much to Columbus and the youth. He was a very friendly mailman for years. His smile will be missed by many. Susan Zittel

I have known John for must of my life, but especially as a charter member of the Yellow Thunder Officials Assoc. We would see one another at meetings, oir annual Awards Banquet, i would stop at Village Liquors if we officiated a game in the Cambridge area. Later when he moved back to Columbus, I would stop and talk with John if he was outside working on his property.
John will be missed by many!
RIP John!
