Joseph H. Garczynski, 78, of Beaver Dam passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Joseph was born on April 25, 1946 in Hartford to Daniel and Mabel (Smith) Garczynski. He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School and later served his country in the United States Army. Joe was married to Sandra Klebs on May 7, 1970 in Beaver Dam. Joe was employed as a corrections officer with Central State Hospital in Waupun which later became Dodge Correctional until his retirement after 34 years.
Joe was a member of the Beaver Dam American Legion. He was a pit crew member with Biertzer Racing which spanned Wisconsin and the Midwest. He loved all things racing as well as the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. Joe was an accomplished woodworker, gardener, and an expert practical joker.
Joe is survived by his wife Sandy of Beaver Dam; two children: Joseph Garczynski Jr. and Julie (Kevin) Orlowski both of Beaver Dam; grandchildren: Hannah (Ryan) Boedefeld, Allyson (Dustin) Parrish, and Eric Orlowski; great grandchildren: Kayden, Ezra, Brantley, and Levi; his siblings: James (Veronica) Garczynski of Aurora, CO, Don (Gail) Garczynski of Madison, Paul (Betty) Garczynski of Madison, Mark (Debbie) Garczynski of Beaver Dam, and Marie Keefe of Oshkosh; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gary (Mary) Klebs of Anchorage, AK, Debbie (Paul) Pizzuti of Columbus, OH, Patsy (John) Hynes of Prospect, KY, Janice (Jeff) Tischler of Beaver Dam, and Craig (Jorge) Klebs of Miami, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Eugene and Ramona Klebs, and a special uncle Clarence Smith.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam with military honors to be conducted.
Joe’s family would like to thank Stephanie and nurses at Common Heart Homecare, the Marshfield Medical Center staff, and Hillside Manor staff for their care and support during his final days.
