Karen Luella Rediske (née Muche) was born on December 31, 1944, in Mayville, Wisconsin, to Alfred “Butch” Muche and Elsie (née Schmidt) Muche. On Friday, April 3, 2026, she left this world with the same quiet grace and strength that she carried throughout her life, leaving behind a family who adored her and a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever.
Karen grew up in Mayville in a loving, close-knit hunting family, where she learned early the value of tradition, togetherness, and the joys of being outdoors. She found peace in nature, comfort in familiar routines, and joy in the traditions she passed down to her children and grandchildren.
On April 16, 1966, Karen married the love of her life, William “Bill” Rediske and had 3 loving children, Kim, Ryan, and Becky. A few of their shared hobbies over the years included trapshooting, hunting, golfing, or heading “up north” to her niece’s cabin.
Karen had a playful spirit and a warm, welcoming heart. She loved game nights – dominoes, sheepshead, cribbage, aggravation and many others – and she had a way of turning even the simplest evening into something special. She treasured the tradition of sturgeon spearing and was always ready for her annual minnow shot, a moment that never failed to bring smiles and stories.
A lifelong resident of Mayville, Karen worked for many years at Gleason Reel, retiring in 2010. She was known for her dedication, her reliability, and the quiet kindness she brought to her work every day.
Her faith was a steady anchor throughout her life. Karen was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville and participated in the church choir and altar guild.
Above all, Karen was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love knew no limits. She leaves behind her three children – Kimberly (Pat) Quinn, Ryan (Sara Wong) Rediske and Rebecca (Don) Hartwig – who were the pride of her life. She delighted in her grandchildren, Paige (Justin) Coulter and Tony (Ally) Giese, along with her step grandchildren, Danny (Emily) Quinn, Kristen (Mark) Sweeny, Brianna Hartwig and Hunter Hartwig. She enjoyed celebrating their milestones and cheering them on with a grandmother’s unwavering love. Her great-grandchildren, Sloan and Landon, brought her immeasurable joy and lit up her later years. Her sisters-in-laws Sandra (Don) Muche, and Diana (Bill) Muche along with many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, her parents, Alfred and Elsie Muche; her siblings – William Muche, Donald Muche, Darlene Franke and brother-in-law, Marvin Franke and her nephew Joel Muche. Though she endured deep loss, she remained a source of comfort, steadiness, and love for everyone around her.
Karen will be remembered for her laugh, competitiveness, gentle spirit, her quiet humor, her love of tradition, and the way she made every person feel valued and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the traditions she kept alive, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
A funeral service honoring Karen’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with Rev. Dr. Mark G. Cutler officiating. A visitation will be held at church on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, interment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Mayville. Family and friends are welcome to gather to celebrate a life lived with love, faith, and grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. John’s reflecting the values Karen carried throughout her life.
