Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 27th at 12:00 noon at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac, WI, with the Rev. Father Tom Biersack presiding.

Visitation: Will be held on Monday, January 27th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the church. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.

Born in Fond du Lac on Valentine’s Day, Kathleen Ann McCabe became a wife, mother of eight children, and dear friend to many who cherished her kind heart. She died Friday, January 24, at Hillside Manor Nursing Home in Beaver Dam at the age of 87.

She was born in Fond du Lac on February 14, 1926, the daughter of Dr. Patrick and Lucille (Lloyd) McCabe. She attended St. Joseph’s School, Fond du Lac High School, and the University of Wisconsin, where she received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood development. She worked as a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines and was a kindergarten teacher.

In 1953 she married Thomas A. Schuessler, whom she had learned to know in dance classes and had dated in high school. Mr. and Mrs. Schuessler lived briefly in Milwaukee before he established a law practice in Fond du Lac.

Mrs. Schuessler was active at St. Joseph’s Parish, where her children were educated. She was a member of Charity Club of Fond du Lac, and of the school board at St. Mary’s Springs High School. She performed as a violinist and ballet dancer throughout her life.

Following Mr. Schuessler’s death in 1979, she was married to Dr. Alfred F. Pedi, from 1981 until his death in 2006.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Col. Lloyd B. McCabe USA Ret., M.D., and Patrick McCabe; her sister, Charlotte Hotaling; her stepdaughter, Concetta Bigsby; and her stepgrandson, Anthony Acheson.

She is survived by five daughters: Julia Hermanny of Milwaukee, Mary (Patrick) Shea of Madison, Christine (Edmund) Gilgenbach of Fond du Lac, Jeanne (Ken) Quincey and Ann (Eric) Miller, both of Beaver Dam; three sons: Thomas A. (Katherine) Schuessler, Jr., of Mayville, John (Dawn) Schuessler of Milwaukee, and James Schuessler of Madison; 33 grandchildren: Jessica, Joseph (Kayla), David, Michael, Jude, John, Joseph, Maureen, Caroline, Bridget, Timothy, Leah, Maura, Aileen, Johannah, Margaret (David), Stephen, Elizabeth, Edmund (Ashley), Richard, Rebecca, Margaret, Ana, Andrew, Thomas, Julia, Mairead, Elke, Nathan, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Daniel and Grace; two great-grandchildren: Idina and Gabrielle; nine stepchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Heartfelt thanks are given to the staff for the care given to Kathleen over the past five years.

Dear All,
We learned of Kathleen's demise just before going to Church today. You can be sure She was and will be in Our prayers. My Sister, Georgian and I have many fond memories growing up with our favorite First Cousin. Georgian called today and they are presently driving down a Colorado mountain on their way back. We might and might not make it tomorrow in sub zero weather.

You were such an important part of our lives in Fond du Lac and will always be in our prayers. When I received the call here in Naples, I was flooded with memories. Living next to the big Boyle Home on Sheboygan filled with Schuessler Spirit was a special time in our lives. I sent an email to Cyndi who responded simply, I loved her. We all did.
