Kenneth E. Schindel, age 89, of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, December 25, 2023 at Randolph Health services.
Graveside Military Honors for Ken will be on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146. A committal service for both Merry Ann and Ken with follow with Pastor Dennis Richards officiating all are welcome to attend.
Kenneth Earl was born on January 19, 1934 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Lester and Lucile (Howland) Schindel. After graduating Beaver Dam High School, Ken joined the United States Army and served in Korea from 1956 until 1957. On June 6, 1959, he was united in marriage with Merry Ann Nelson at Randolph Lutheran Church. Kenneth worked for Monarch Range Company for 22 years, then worked as an electrician at John Deere for 10 years, retiring in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Beaver Dam Conservation Club, NRA and Good Sam Club. Ken was also a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 33. For 14 years, Ken spent his winter months at his second home in Florida. One of his biggest highlights of his life was May 3, 2014; the day he was able to fly with Badger Honor Flight.
Kenneth is survived by his son, Todd Schindel of Yuma, AZ; sister, Nanci Schindel; brother-in-law, Gilbert Nelson of Wild Rose; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Ronald Schindel; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
