Lawrence S. Hafenstein, age 81, of Juneau, died Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services will be held.

Lawrence Steven Hafenstein was born on December 19, 1944, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Gilbert and Adeline (Splitt) Hafenstein. After high school, he served in the Untied States Army. On September 25, 1976, Larry was united in marriage with Linda R. Schultz at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Juneau. Larry worked for Sensient in Juneau.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hafenstein of Juneau; three children, Shelli (Donald) Joss of Lynden, WA, Eric Hafenstein (Stacy Tesch) of Juneau, and Cara Garcia of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren, Jacob (Larissa) Joss, Madison (Michael) Darrough, and Harrison Joss, Avery and Kendall Hafenstein, and Veronica and Alex Garcia; four sisters-in-law, Kay (Mike) Peters of Beaver Dam, Susan (Harv) Marten of Pennsylvania, Ann (Blaine) Krentz of Green Bay, and Patricia Schultz of Juneau; other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Steven; his father-in-law and his mother-in-law Robert and Genevieve Schultz; and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Schultz and Charles Schultz.

The family would like to thanks the staffs at both Clearview Nursing Home and Commonheart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
