Services: Funeral service will take place on Saturday, Febuary 7 at 11 am at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Kekoskee, WI.
Visitation: Visitiation will take place on Friday, Febuary 6 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville, Wisconsin and also on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Kekoskee, WI.
MAYVILLE – Leafy Ruth Pearsall, 84, of 33 N. Market St., Mayville, village of Kekoskee, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Fond du Lac Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee. The Rev. Kenneth Bittorf will officiate. Burial will be in Kekoskee Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Leafy was born on June 23, 1924, in Hartville, Mo., the daughter of Anker and Peryl (Burke) Stigall. She was married to Robert S. Pearsall on Feb. 12, 1944, in Waynesville, Mo.
Leafy was an active member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee, and its Ladies Aid. She was a member of Mayville Senior Center and a member of Kekoskee mother’s club, and of Fireside Campers. During World War II Leafy worked on base at Fort Leonardwood, Mo., where she met Bob. Their saying to each other while Robert was away at war was Think of me each night at nine. Leafy enjoyed her Pug dog Shadrack and every stray cat in the village of Kekoskee along with camping, gardening and polka dances, and spending time with her dear friends.
Survivors include two children, Linda (Dale) Schultz, Fond du Lac, and Rodney (Kari) Pearsall, Waldo, Wis., and was a loving foster mother for 14 children; grandchildren, Heath (Janell) Fishbaugher, Markesan, Holly (Dave) Belongia, Fond du Lac, Heidi (Mike) Belongia, North Fond du Lac, and Alex and Elijah Pearsall, Waldo; great-grandchildren, Julianna and Nathan Fishbaugher, Ashley, Emmy, Davey, Autumn and Summer Belongia, Karisa Hargrave, and Kalie and Kelli Jo Belongia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1989; three brothers, Carl, Clifford and Kenneth; three sisters-in-law, Edna, Leotta and Ida; one brother-in-law, Lester Elliott, and mother-in-law, Sarah Lee.
