Leota M. Schellpfeffer, 74, 421 Horicon St., Mayville, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 19, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. Services will follow at the church with the Rev. Geoffrey Hoy officiating. Inurnment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Mayville.
Leota was born on Sept. 29, 1934 in Iron Ridge, the daughter of Reinhold and Clara (Gunst) Giese.
She was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School and was employed at Maysteel Corp. as shipping coordinator, a server at Wild Goose Inn; retired from the Mayville school district’s hot lunch program and cooked at The Pub in Mayville for many years. Leota was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville; a member of the Mayville Historical Society (where she served on the board being involved with the ice cream social making hundreds of schaum tortes). She was a very talented baker and cook.
Leota is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Linda) Schellpfeffer, Mayville; Dennis (Crystal) Schellpfeffer, Horicon; sister, Lyola (Ron) Grover, Sun Prairie; grandchildren, Nathan, Nicole, Noelle Schellpfeffer and Jessica and Cody Schellpfeffer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lyles Wendt, and special friend of 40-plus years, Robert Kuehl.
