Loretta M. Panzer, age 90, formerly of Juneau, died Monday, May 26, 2008 at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend.
Visitation for Loretta will be at St. Stephen”s United Church of Christ in Juneau on Friday, May 30, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will follow at church on Friday, beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Carol Lange will officiate. Burial will be in the Juneau City Cemetery immediately following the service.
The former Lorretta Margaret Scherger was born on February 10, 1918 in Huilsburg, Wisconsin to the late Herman and Lena (Knab) Scherger. In September of 1937, she was united in marriage with Herbert Panzer. Loretta worked at the Blew Inn Restaurant, then at Pauly Cheese in Juneau for 28 years and she also worked at Clearview Nursing Home. One of her pleasures was playing Skip-Bo with her family. Loretta also loved to travel and took many trips to Hawaii, Washington and California. Loretta was a member of St. Stephen”s United Church of Christ in Juneau, the Red Hat Society, and the Juneau Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Orrin) Schmidt of Hartford, two sons, Richard Panzer (friend, Robert Thompson) of Las Cruces, NM and Larry (Renee) Panzer of Sheboygan Falls, three grandchildren, Michael (Brenda) Schmidt of Hartford, Sarah Panzer of Burlington, VT, and Mark Panzer of Neenah, a great granddaughter, Nicole Schmidt of Hartford, two sisters-in-law, Bernice Scherger of Hartford and Evelyn Panzer of Juneau, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Jeffrey Schmidt, three brothers, Adolph Scherger, Reinhold Scherger, and Herman Scherger, and her sister, Irene Wendegatz.
