Lorraine E. Burelbach, 93, formerly of 407 Prospect Ave., Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with the Rev. John Schreiter officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may call at the Koepsell Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.
Lorraine was born on Jan. 10, 1916, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Christ and Margaret (Postier) Rabehl. She was married to Max Burelbach on Oct. 1, 1938, in Beaver Dam.
Mrs. Burelbach and her late husband built and operated the original Buckhorn Tavern for several years. They later owned and operated a farm at W6228 Swan Road, Burnett. Lorraine sold the farm and moved to Prospect Avenue in 1999. She has been a resident of the Golden Living Center since Aug. 1, 2002. She was a longtime member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.
She is survived by her caregiver niece, Orgine Grahn and her husband Norman Grahn, Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Frieda Rabehl, Beaver Dam, and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max on April 14, 1989; four brothers, Leonard, Harold, Alvin and Henry Rabehl; eight sisters, Marie Wendt, Esther Dummer, Mildred Schemmel, Mabel Brzezinski, Ruby Byrd, Edith Hafenstein, Gladys in infancy and Margaret Tootie Brom; three sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.
