Lorraine D. Koepsell

Lorraine Doris Koepsell, age 91, entered into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family and the promises of her Lord.

Funeral services for Lorraine will be held on Monday, July 27, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon, with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon. Visitation will be held Monday, July 27, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Lorraine Doris Fink was born on November 11, 1934, in the Town of Theresa, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Doris (nee Neumann) Fink. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Theresa. Her confirmation verse, Psalm 86:11, remained a fitting prayer throughout her life: “Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.”

On June 24, 1950, Lorraine married Norbert Koepsell. Together they shared 61 years of marriage, building a Christian home centered on Christ, faith, and family.

Lorraine was a faithful member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon, where she served through Ladies Aid and LWML, helped make quilts, sang in the choir, and quietly lived out the faith she confessed. She spent 23 years at Maysteel in Mayville, running a brake press—a demanding job she took great pride in, and one she did exceptionally well.

Raised on a farm, Lorraine never lost her appreciation for God’s creation. She loved the changing seasons, watched the phases of the moon, noticed the lengthening and shortening of the days, and looked forward to every harvest. She enjoyed country drives, warm summer days, tending her gardens, mowing her lawn, and making her house a welcoming home. She treasured her annual trips to Florida with her daughters and never passed up a good game of Sheepshead with friends at the Mayville Senior Center and enjoyed card games with family, especially some very fortunate grand and great-grandchildren.

Strong and spunky by nature and generous in spirit, Lorraine delighted in preparing meals, caring for those she loved, and filling everyday moments with laughter, conversation, and kindness. She was never afraid to speak her mind, and those who loved her wouldn’t have wanted her any other way.

Above all, Lorraine loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her Christian faith shaped the way she lived, served, and loved others. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and mother-in-law, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful friend. Her family will forever cherish her love, her wisdom (and yes, a few of her well-known theories), and the countless ways she reminded them that home was always a place of welcome, warmth, and love.

Lorraine is survived by her children and their spouses: Dennis (Lou Ann) Koepsell, Douglas (Mary) Koepsell, Kaye Koepsell, Sharon (Jack) Kiesow, Doreen (Rick) Dittberner, Lisa (Scott) Ziorgen, and Rev. Gregory (Kim) Koepsell; her 19 grandchildren: Trish (Brian) LaBlanc, Alex (Amanda) Koepsell, Jake (Samantha) Koepsell, Daniel (Vicky) Koepsell, Joel Koepsell, Holli (Arnie) Blok, Tyler (Emily) Koepsell, Bethany (Nate) Carlson, Quinn (Alexsandria) Kiesow, Erin Kiesow, Leah (Dean) Clappes, Rebecca (Nick) Marks, Emilee (Andy) Mueller, Amber (Brent) Cernat, Jenna (Ethan) Neuendorf, Brody Koepsell, Samuel Koepsell, Jace Koepsell, and Kinsey Koepsell; 34 great-grandchildren; her brother, Michael Fink of Tripoli, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norbert in 2011; her son, Brian Koepsell in 2016; her parents, Arthur and Doris Fink; her brother, Wilfred Fink; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Christian and Agnes Koepsell; and her in-laws, Arlene Fink, Marsha Fink, Arthur and Marjorie Koepsell, and Clarence and Loretta Giese.

The family wishes to thank the Home Hospice team, especially Heather, at SSM Health for the wonderful care they provided Lorraine. Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen Lutheran School Student Tuition Fund in Horicon or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
