Margie Marie Marcella (Petrich) Spradau passed away March 23, 2026, peacefully at St. Agnes Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac, WI., surrounded by her family. She was born March 23, 1929, to Herman and Ida (Gaulke) Petrich of Eldorado, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, WI, number 13 of the 14 children.
A Funeral Service for Margie will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mayville United Methodist Church in Mayville with Pastor Denise Retzleff officiating. A visitation will be held at church on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Following the service, interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
During her youth, she was a 4-H Club member for 11 years. Margie graduated from Goodrich High School, Fond du Lac, in 1946. After high school, she went on to graduate from St. Agnes School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1950. Margie was employed by St. Agnes Hospital 1950-1952, Ries-Friedrich Clinic in Brownsville 1952-1953, and at Maysteel in Mayville as a part time Occupational Health Nurse from 1968-1975. She volunteered as a nurse for the Red Cross Blood Bank, received an American National Red Cross nurse’s pin for her services, as well as being a blood donor over the years. She had been a member of the Christian Nurses Guild of Fond du Lac and was made a life member of St. Agnes School of Nursing Alumni Association in 1990. Margie had been a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, for the elderly in the Mayville area, for over 20 years.
She married Marvin Spradau on Oct 7, 1950, at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Margie enjoyed being an active member of the church throughout her life. She was a member of United Brethren Church of Lomira from 1952 to 1962. At that time, the family moved to Mayville, where they became members of the Mayville United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group in the earlier years. Margie has served on various church board positions over the years, taught Sunday school, and was involved in mission work. She spent countless hours making crafts for the annual craft shows and assisting in all aspects of the church’s annual dinners.
Margie is survived by her 4 children – Dawn (Don) Forster of Fond du Lac, Fern (Mike) Core of Nekoosa, Mark Spradau of Eagle River and Wendy (Peter) Weinberger of LeRoy. Margie’s surviving family also includes 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two great-great grandsons, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and their families. Preceding Margie in death was her husband Marvin, her parents, and all 13 of her siblings: Irma Gillen, Irene Rost, Edna Schwertfeger, Iva Faust, Clara Petrich, Florretta Hill, Bernhardt Petrich, Ruth Lindner, Herbert Petrich, Doris (Schmitz) Hass, Ina Petrich, Hubert Petrich, and Marie Hansen.
Margie dearly loved to share time with and care for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grew up. Her next favorite past time was gardening and caring for her flowers.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac for all the loving care and attention given to Margie and the family.
