Mark Rantala, age 58, of Mayville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at his home.
A funeral service for Mark will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville with the Rev. Dr. Mark G. Cutler officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Mayville.
Mark was born the son of Arthur and Barbara (Elsinger) Rantala on April 22, 1964, in Beaver Dam. He was a 1982 graduate of Mayville High School. Mark was united in marriage to the love of his life, Robin Hoffman on August 16, 1986, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. He was working as a programmer, CNC machinist for Ataco in Cedarburg.
In his spare time, Mark loved the outdoors and especially deer hunting and taking care of the land and cameras where he hunted. He loved playing cribbage with his family, bowling, and loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He also loved watching MASH on a nightly basis as well as old westerns, wrestling, and his favorite knife show while sharpening his knives. Mark will be fondly remembered for always being there to lend a hand… whether it was a car that needed fixing or a fence that needed to be mended. Robin, his children, and grandchildren were always number 1. He was always there for them.
Mark is survived by his wife- Robin of Mayville. His children- Grant Rantala of Madison and Kandace (Brandon) Rantala of Milwaukee. His in laws- John (Beverly) Hoffman of Pukaway Lake. His grandfather in law- Mathias Hoffman of Mayville. His grandchildren- Bowyn Rantala and Cameron and Luna Cook. His siblings- Mike (Mary) Rantala of Muskego and Matt Rantala of Mayville. His siblings in law- Penny (Alan) Pipping of Ripon, Scott (Jerry) Hoffman of FL. And Amy Ehlers of GA. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Casey Schwartz and her children Octavius ‘Gus’ and Earl.
