MAYVILLE – Martin Marty Schraufnagel, 75, of N10163 County Road V, Mayville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation for Marty will be on Monday, Feb. 23 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Services will be at 5 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Tom Biersack will officiate. Entombment will be at Shrine of Rest, Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.
Marty was born on Dec. 23, 1933, the son of Peter and Mary (Brill) Schraufnagel in Farmersville, Wis. On June 18, 1960 he as united in marriage with ElDonna Voight at St. Andrew Catholic Church, LeRoy.
Marty retired from John Deere in Horicon in 1992 after 30 years. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Theresa; was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952-1956; a member of the Mayville American Legion Post 69; was member and enjoyed playing golf at the Mayville Golf Club; he loved playing cards; Marty enjoyed spending summers in Shawano and winters in Arizona.
Surviving is his wife, ElDonna, Mayville; children, Cindy (Brad) Steinbach and children, Leslie and Craig of Mayville; Lori (Stu) Strook and children, Seve, Callee and Cassie of Mayville; Steve (Stacy) Schraufnagel, and children Amanda and Aidan of Chandler, Ariz.; Brian (Michelle) Schraufnagel and daughter Kate of West Bend; a brother, Henry (Marlene) Schraufnagel of Farmersville; brothers-in-law Tony Hesprich, Lomira; Thomas Peltier, Wales; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Rita Herman, Mary Ann Hesprich, Anita Peltier; one brother, Peter Schraufnagel; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Milton and Goldie Voight.
