Mary Elizabeth Nampel

June 8, 1937 - March 1, 2010

Mary E. Nampel, age 72, of Beaver Dam, was granted eternal peace on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The visitation will be at St. Katharine Drexel Maple Ave. Church in Beaver Dam on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Fr. John Schreiter officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter”s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

The former Mary Elizabeth Haase was born on June 8, 1937 in Clyman, Wisconsin to Harold and Anna E. (Godsell) Haase. She was a 1955 graduate of Juneau High School. On May 2, 1964 she was united in marriage with Donald Nampel at St. John the Baptist Church in Clyman. Shortly after marriage, they bought a home in Rural Beaver Dam where they raised their sons and continued to live. For the past 36 years, Mary fought the debilitating effects of Multiple Sclerosis with strong will, a positive attitude, and alternative medicine with her husband and caregiver, Donald. She enjoyed many hobbies which include tatting, and playing cards and Dominos. Mary enjoyed her involvement with 4H as a leader and as a member of Hickory Nut Homemakers. Until recently, she continued to host monthly meetings. Mary was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.

Survivors are her husband Donald of Beaver Dam, three sons, Russell (Tami) Nampel of Juneau, Harold Nampel of Beaver Dam, and David (Jennifer) Nampel of Beaver Dam, four grandchildren, Brittany, Alex, Ellen and Myles, brother-in-law, Allen Nampel, sister-in-law, Carol Nampel, special niece, RenAC.e McCord, special friend, Marsha, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joseph and Jerome Haase, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clemens and Lilian Nampel and her brother-in-law, Kenny.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Mary E. Nampel”s name to the American Cancer Society, 8317 Elderberry Rd., Madison, WI, 53717 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1120 James Drive, Ste. A, Hartland, WI, 53029.
