Nancy Ann Wondra, age 72, of Mayville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
A private family memorial service for Nancy will be held at a later date by Pastor Joseph G. McGee of The Rock Bible Baptist Church.
Nancy was born the daughter of Warren and Harriet (Blitzke) Schultz on December 27, 1951, in Fond du Lac. On November 5, 1977, she was united in marriage to Steven L. Wondra at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac.
Nancy attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Woodworth Middle School, and Goodrich High School all of Fond du Lac. She worked various jobs over the years including at the Fond du Lac Reporter and The Mayville Inn. Her family thought that her true calling in life was being the best mom ever.
Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found as many opportunities as she could to create memories and be with her family. She loved being Nana to her beloved grandchildren, sneaking them sweets any chance she could. Nancy enjoyed a good game of Crazy 8’s and a drive to get the best ice cream cones at The Stand in Iron Ridge. She often could be heard saying “A little more ice please” so she could properly enjoy her diet cola. Nancy had a quick wit to her and always had a compliment to lift others up.
Nancy had a newly found faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and prayer was an important part of her life. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand- John 10:27-29.
Nancy will be missed deeply by the ones she leaves behind including her husband of 47 years Steve; her children: Ronald Wondra of Campbellsport and special friend Lisa Taormina, Tanya (Bobby) Zook of Eden, and Timothy Wondra (Sara Svec) of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren: Phoenix Vandeurzen, Angelina Mahloch, Beverly Zook, Devin Zook, Zander Zook, Taylor Svec, and Kendra Svec; her sisters: Susan (Dale) Groskinsky, Debbie Gruenwald, Patty Rady, and Lisa Huberty all of Fond du Lac. Nancy is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law Ashley Wondra; brothers Jimmy and Scott; her grandmother Anna Blitzke; mother and father-in-law Raymond and Alice Wondra; brothers-in-law Gene Rady and Richard Gruenwald; and her nephew Shawn Rady.
A special thanks to Jenny Oechsner, the Mayville EMS, and the medical staff at St. Agnes Hospital.
Memorials in Nancy’s memory may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
