Jean, I am so sorry for your loss. Nubby was a great friend for many years when we were young and foolish. We had some great times. He had to be the funniest guy I have ever known. He had a way with his banter. We loved him for it. I know he will be missed by all who knew him. I will always cherish my memories of the good times with Nubby. God Speed Nubby

Phil Buteyn left a message on August 10, 2024:

I was totally shocked when I got the news that my dear old DCTC pal, Nubby, had passed away. I knew he had battled through some cancer issues in past years, but I thought he was in good health at the present time. I got to know and love Nubby during my years at the old teachers' college in Mayville. He always had a smile for everyone; he was loved by all who got to know him. My deepest sympathies go out to his wife and family; I know he's going to be missed by them and the rest of us who knew him.
Sincerely,
Phil Buteyn, Madison, WI

Lynn Carver left a message on August 10, 2024:

Our sincere condolences to you Jean and EJ as your family grieves this loss. He was an extraordinary person, and I will never forget his infectious laugh.

All the times we visited Stetson University or walked the streets in DeLand, we thought of him. Now our trips to Cook’s Cafe will even be more meaningful.

Mayville was blessed, and so were we to have known him.

Nubby was my buddy. I worked with him at TAB during the summer of 1974. I used to love to listen to him sing while we were working. 💛

A genuine person who was all about Mayville, the community, the school, and most of all the kids. Cannot say enough about what he meant to our family and how he cared so much about what opportunities kids should get a chance to do.
