Orville Charles Seide

Orville C. Seide, age 80, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at his home in Horicon.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Daniel Seehafer and Rev. Jonathan D. Szczesny will officiate. Inurnment will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon. Everyone is invited to gather in the church hall for a light lunch and a time of fellowship following the services.
Orville Charles Seide was born on March 30, 1927 in the Town of Burnett, Dodge County, Wisconsin to the late Carl and Linda (Ewert) Seide. He graduated from Union Daily High School in Boston, Massachusetts and later served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1960. Orville worked in Kerrville, Texas as a real estate agent for 15 years before moving to Boston Massachusetts. In Boston, he worked as a retail clerk at Feline”s Department Store for 18 years and he also worked as a church school teacher at St. Anne”s Church in Lincoln, Massachusetts. After moving back to the area, Orville was an active board member of the Horicon Historical Society and was also active with the Friends of the Horicon Library, having served as its secretary. He was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon where he served on the church council for a number of years and also served as chairman of the Envangelism Board.

Orville is survived by cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Victor Seide, and his sister, Eldora Canniff.

Memorials may be made in Orville C. Seide”s name to St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, 505 N. Palmatory St., Horicon, WI 53032.

When Orville stayed with us at our home in Market Drayton some years ago he noticed that our fridge was on its last legs. Unbeknownst to us he left some money for us at a local store to purchase a new refrigerator after his return home. Whenever we open our fridge or use the kitchen knife he also insisted on buying for us, we remember his practical generosity. Despite the number of years that have passed, friends at church still ask us how our American friend Orville is getting on. God bless you, Orville! Iris and Ray
