Patricia A. Messer

Patricia A. (Horn) Messer, 88, of Beaver Dam passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Charleston House in Beaver Dam.

Patricia was born on February 22, 1936 in Beaver Dam to Howard and Esther (Zimmerman) Horn. After losing her parents at an early age, she was raised by her grandmother Emma Horn. Pat was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She was married to Robert L. Messer on June 26, 1954 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Pat was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam where she was a member of the Friendship League. She was a 4-H leader for many years teaching knitting and crocheting. Pat sewed many of her children’s clothing over the years. She was a member of the Dodge County Homemakers group. She loved reading and playing cards.

Pat is survived by her children: Randy Messer (partner, Debbie Harder) of DeForest, Sheree (Otto) Mattke of Columbus, Deb (Mac) McFarlane of Beaver Dam, and Curtis Messer of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren: Angie (Dan) Kieta, Ben Messer (partner Jennifer Brink), Megan (Ryan) Duffy, Rachel (Brandon) Ver Velde, Jay (Amy) Schmuhl, Mike (Jaime) Schmuhl, Jeff (Mandi) Schmuhl, Amanda (Joe) Fischer, Adam (Amanda) Messer, Drew Messer, and Abby Messer; great grandchildren: Brianne, Brooke, Will, Henry, Callan, Kaleb, Kelin, Hayden, Charlotte, Evelyn, Meredith, Berkley, Brielle, and; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; brother-in-law’s Lynn (Rita) Messer, Charles Schimming as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to her niece Barb Straseskie for the loving care she gave to Mom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother Emma Horn; her husband Robert in 2018; three sisters: Donna (Robert Miller & Pete) Lange, Eunice (Nelson) Stofflet, and Betty (Roland) Indermuhle, her brother Butch Horn and sister-in-law Karen Schimming.

A visitation will be held at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m.  Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
