Phyllis J. Gove

Phyllis J. Gove, age 86, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at her home in Randolph.

Services will be held at a later date.

Phyllis Joan Livingston was born on August 23, 1939, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Maurice and Ethel (nee Bradley) Livingston. She graduated from Randolph High School. On January 28, 1961, Phyllis was united in marriage with Charles W. Gove, Sr. at the Courtland Methodist Church. He preceded her in death in 2019.

Phyllis worked for 40 years at Educators Progress Service in Randolph and she also waitressed at Feil’s Supper Club for several years. She enjoyed shopping, particularly for purses and shoes. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, birds and nature, watching sports, and above all, her grandchildren. Phyllis was well known for her holiday cinnamon rolls, and she will be fondly remembered for her homemade greeting cards. She was a quiet soul by nature, but she was also full of saucy one liners. Phyllis was a strong and independent woman who treated others the same way she wanted others to treat her; she passed this on to her family, mostly by the way she lived her life as an example. Her home was always a safe place where everyone was welcome. She will be dearly missed.

Phyllis is survived by her three children, Charles (Sharon) Gove, Jr. of Markesan, Patty (Jeff) DeVries of Randolph, and Leanne (Chris) Hoyme of Randolph; her four-legged son, Hank; four grandchildren, Zack and Hannah Gove, Joe (Emily) DeVries, and Josh (Zoe) DeVries; three great grandchildren, Finnley Daley, Daisy DeVries, and Lilah DeVries; her sister, Marian Omen; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Flegner of Wautoma, Patricia Huizenga of Randolph, Vernon Selk of Randolph, George (Joanne) Gove of Amarillo, TX, Jeanette Manning of Beaver Dam, and Vern (Jan) Gove of Portage; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carroll Gove, Glen Gove, Joan Selk, Eleanore (Jim) Gay, Maurice (Carol) Gove, Ryan (Darlene) Gove, Sandra Wendt, and Clayton (Dorothy) Gove; and four additional brothers-in-law, Al Flegner, Anthony Huizenga, John Omen, and Harry Manning.
