Richard Ptaschinski

March 17, 1938 - October 27, 2006

Richard J. “Dick” Ptaschinski, age 68, of Hastings, MN and formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, October 27, 2006 at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings, MN.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2006 , at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St. Beaver Dam, from 9:00 AM until the time of the memorial mass. The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday following the memorial gathering. (Please note the change in service time) Fr. John Schreiter will officiate. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac at a later date.
Richard James Ptaschinski was born on March 17, 1938, in Beaver Dam, the son of William and Eunice (Daniels) Ptaschinski. On July 16, 1960 he was united in marriage to Joyce Becker at St. Peter”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She preceded him in death. He was then united in marriage to Jeanne Menard in Hastings, MN, on March 25, 2006. Dick was a Beaver Dam High School Graduate and worked at Kirsh Foundry for over 23 years. He served as an Alderman for the City of Beaver Dam and was a past member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish. He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed model railroading. He spent many hours teaching his sons the joy of hunting and looked forward to their hunting trips together. He also was a stamp collector and has all the Federal Duck Stamps since 1934, which he has now passed on to his son.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Ptaschinski of Hastings, MN; his two sons, Michael (Michele) Ptaschinski and David (Teresa) Ptaschinski both of Beaver Dam; his two grandsons, Nicholas and Tyler; seven step children, Raymond (Lonnie) Menard of Hastings, MN, Jeanette (Bob) Sindt of Hastings, MN, Cherise (Kirk) Skeba of California, Pierre (Kim) Menard of New York, Gloria (Rob) Berg of Illinois, Burnadette (Joe) Kimmes of Hastings, MN. and Andre Jr. (Cara) Menard of Alabama; 19 step grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Joyce on March 14, 2005.

Dick was a neighborhood and high school friend for many years. Frequently we would walk to BD high school together. Dick was raised on Roosevelt Drive and I was raise on Franklin Street. One summer between school years we did a model railroad project that was fun and educational. Time spent with Dick was always educational, enjoyable and fun. I am happy that we were able to spend some time together at the recent BD high school class reunion in 2006. Dick will be missed by all who knew him. It was with great sadness that I learned of Dick''s death. I enjoyed the time spent with him at our TLC (Together we Live with Cancer) Support Groups over the years.
