Robert G. Sonneman, age 70, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
The memorial gathering will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The memorial service will follow on Sunday at 12:00 noon with Rev. John Breitwisch officiating.
Robert was born on August 11, 1952 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Robert A. and Lorraine (Guerndt) Sonneman. On February 24, 1973, he was united in marriage to Barbara Peterson, with whom he had three children; Curt, Tanya and Greg. He then married his soulmate, Irene Schellpfeffer. The two enjoyed traveling the world together and many camping trips with family and friends. They were happily married for 22 years. Bob served in the National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict. During his lifetime, Bob was employed by Lidtke Motors, Green Giant and Gehls.
Robert is survived by his children, Curt (Lauren) Sonneman, Tanya (Mike) Sufka and Greg (Alex) Sonneman; two step children, Dawn Schellpfeffer and Tyler (Angela) Schellpfeffer; five grandchildren, Colton, Matreya, Jace, Sean and Nadya; one great-grandson, Deeno; sisters, Sandy Braman and Pat Sutton; many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorraine; and his wife, Irene.

I have so many fond memories of the Beaver Dam Sonnemans, where I spent many summer days as a child with my cousins, Sandy, Pat and Bob, or as we called him at the time, Little Bobby. Hide and seek, 500 Rummy, catching gophers and chipmunks at the cemetery, spending long days at the Dodge County Fair, selling kool aid at our own stand, going to the corner grocery for candy, eating pizza and popcorn and on and on. Uncle Bob and Aunt Lorraine provided a fun and safe environment for us. We cousins drifted apart in our adult years, but these and other special memories remain. From the obituary, I can see that cousin Bob had a full life with many blessings. To Bob's sisters and their families, may memories such as these make you smile and focus on how blessed we were in that time of our lives. We have lost Little Bobby for now, but we do not forget.
