Angels descended from Heaven on Friday, May 8, 2009 to take Robert R. Whitrock, Sr. home. He died at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Friends and family will gather at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, May 14, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial services will follow at the funeral home on Thursday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Randy Schaub will officiate. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam where the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 will conduct military honors. A luncheon will follow at the Beaver Dam Veterans Center.
Robert was born on August 31, 1943 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Roy and Viola Whitrock. He attended schools in Horicon; after high school, he enlisted in the US Army National Guard and served from 1961 to 1963. Robert was united in marriage with Dorothy Wiersma on April 4, 1964. He worked at Metalcraft of Mayville for over 40 years. Robert was always devoted to his work and at times would work two or three jobs to support his family.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Wiersma Whitrock of Beaver Dam, three children, Todd (Colleen) Whitrock of Cedarburg, Robert Jr. (Laurie) Whitrock of Beaver Dam, and Jodie (Michael) Westimayer of Horicon, eight grandchildren, Nathaniel and Samantha Whitrock of Cedarburg, Hailey, Emma, Chloe and Hunter Westimayer of Horicon, and Rachel (Shannon) Johnson and Melissa (Bill) Poole of Beaver Dam, five great grandchildren, three sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Henkel of Mountin, Darlene (Jim) Warrier of Montello, and Linda Whitrock of Fond du Lac, seven sisters-in-law, Anna Whitrock of Beaver Dam, Catherine Pixler of Madison, Mary Becker of Woodland, Linda Neumann of Beaver Dam, Joyce Hafemeister of Beaver Dam, Evelyn Lystra of Cambria and Alice (Hank) Evans of Juneau, five brothers-in-law, Howard (Carol) Wiersma of Hustisford, Harvey (Lana) Wiersma of Columbus, Robert (Linda) Wiersma of Portage, Charles Wiersma of Waupun, and a special brother-in-law, Larry (Crystal) Wiersma of Beaver Dam, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his dear friend, William (Jean) MacDonald of Westford, who enjoyed auto racing and go-cart racing together for years. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, a brother, Daryl, a sister-in-law and five brothers-in-law.
