Visitation: Visitation will take place on Monday, December 29th at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy, Wisconsin from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m.
Robert N. Sterr, 78, a resident of Hope Nursing Home, Lomira, and formerly of N10889 West Line Road, Brownsville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at St. Agnes Hospice Hope, Fond du Lac.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 29, at 6 p.m., at St. Andrew Catholic Church, LeRoy. The Rev. Tom Biersack will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, LeRoy. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Lomira American Legion Post 347. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m., at the church.
Robert was born on Dec. 19, 1930, in the town of LeRoy, the son of Benno and Anna (Hoffman) Sterr. He was married to Anna M. Batura on June 26, 1954, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fond du Lac.
Robert was a 1948 graduate of Mayville High School. He was employed at Maysteel, and retired from General Electric Co. in Waukesha. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, LeRoy, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Robert served in the Korean Conflict and was a member and past commander of the Lomira American Legion Post 347. He was a LeRoy Little League baseball coach and a member of the LeRoy Athletic Club. Robert was a former clerk for the township of LeRoy. He loved to hunt and fish and was a Packer fan.
Survivors include his children, Terry (Lynette) Sterr, Fond du Lac, Mark (Joy) Sterr, Brownsville, Mike Sterr, Lomira, Pat (Mary) Sterr, Lomira, Judy (Glenn) Hogue, Germantown, Jane (Stephen) Jones, Lomira, and Nancy (Mike) Gilkey, Delaware, Ohio; one brother, Francis (Mary) Sterr, Chilton; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna in 2002; one son. Scott, and two brothers-in-law, Paul and Carl.
Memorials: Memorials may be directed to St. Andrew Restoration Fund or St. Agnes Hospice in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
